Two years ago, Alyssia and I decided to meet at a Japanese restaurant for a first date.

I was a ball of nerves. I didn’t really know what to do. She came in looking calm and elegant. I kept wondering if she’d be able to tell how anxious I was.

But then we started talking, and those wonders turned into a flow state of conversation I never knew I could have with someone from a different world than mine. I didn’t know such a calming first date could exist.

And I knew, I wanted to continue having conversations with her.

Two years later, we got engaged, having more conversations that me on my first date could ever imagine.
